Touchpad Blocker- Free software to stop your cursor jumping!

Hello and welcome to this video.

In this video I want to demonstrate how to DL & I a free and tiny piece of software called Touchpad Blocker. It works on Windows machines only.

TpB stops the touchpad on your laptop from working when you are typing. This hopefully solves that age old problem of the cursor suddenly moving around the page when we are trying to type.

This is annoying enough if you quickly recognise that the cursor has moved because you can see it in a different position on the page. If you have a visual impairment, it is much more difficult because of the time that it might take you to realise that the cursor has moved and of the time taken to re position the cursor!

Like anything to do with computers, there are many different ways to do the same thing. Some laptops have keys on the keyboard that enable you to switch the touchpad off and on. On other laptops you can adjust the software in order to disable the touchpad.

Touchpad blocker works in the background and disables itself after a key on the keyboard is pressed. There is a shortcut on the desktop and it can be turned on and off with a keyboard shortcut.

Importantly, the software seems safe. Since I have DL it nothing horrible has happened to my machine.

So, lets have a look at the software in action. The control panel is very simple and clear. Amongst all of the options, the one that you might want to change is Time Interval to Block Clicks. This is the time that software waits after you have pressed a key on the keyboard to disable the touchpad. This time should be as short as possible. As soon as you stop pressing keys on the keyboard, the touchpad automatically works again.

  1. if your mouse is jumping you have a good chance to have a default charger interference. Many people have a charger issue ( a proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaMMcPuDDxs . The reason: http://superuser.com/questions/76649/laptop-touchpad-works-incorrectly-when-on-power-supply )
